Mission Statement

Originally I set out to aim my magazine at a male target audience, I then altered my mission statement to suit a female target audience. After researching the target audience I found my magazine would be better suited to females as there was more interest in a music magazine aimed at woman, one that doesn't represent women as typical sex-objects but instead empowers them and shows them for their true potential.

Mission Statement (Female version altered version to suit a female T.A)

My new music magazine is named Harmony. The name is inspired by the literal definition of Harmony ‘The way a piece of music is constructed’. It will give an insight into how the music industry is constructed and how to make it into the industry. Harmony will offer its target audience a chance to appear on the cover. The aim of Harmony is to show already established names in music, as well as showcasing new R&B female artists, promoting them to important record companies. As it stands there are currently no R&B magazines that are aimed at women. Current R&B magazines only show women as sex objects. This degrades their value in the music industry, and making men seem dominant and superior to them. Harmony will aim to empower women give them value in the music industry and show their talent.
